
The head of the aquatic sports club in Abu Dhabi, Hamid Al-Haouti, confirmed the participation of a world swimmer from Great Britain, a three-time Olympic medalist and world record holder in swimming, Adam Peaty, in the international competition "Abu Dhabi Swim For Life". Adam Peaty will also become a post-champion, where Olympic swimmers will participate, organized by the Abu Dhabi Aquatic Sports Club at the Mushammeda Ben Zayed Aquarium in Abu Dhabi from December 13 to 15 of this year, with the participation of 1,000 swimmers.
Al-Haouti noted that Adam Peaty's participation raises the rating of swimming competitions and contributes to the development of swimming in the region. In addition to this, the Olympic champion Adam Peaty announced his participation in the competitions of two members of the British team (I-Race) in swimming, Metty Richards and James Jay.
The "Abu Dhabi Swim For Life" tournament is part of the social league "Swim For Life", which is regularly conducted for the development of swimming in the UAE. Al-Haouti also emphasized: "We are looking forward to the meeting of world and Olympic champions alongside our local swimmers at the international championship. This event presents a great opportunity to inspire future generations and contributes to the development of swimming not only in Abu Dhabi but also in the Arab peninsula".
Adam Peaty became the first British swimmer to win Olympic competitions in swimming since 1988, establishing world records and winning numerous titles at world and Olympic championships. At the Olympics in Rio de Janeiro in 2016, he won a gold medal in the 100 meters breaststroke, setting a world record time of 57.13 seconds. Later, at the Tokyo Olympics in 2020, Peaty won a gold medal in the 100 meters breaststroke, becoming the first swimmer in history to win this event twice at the Olympic Games. At the World Championships, Peaty also won gold medals in breaststroke, establishing world records in the 50 and 100 meters distances. In 2019, Peaty set a world record in the 100 meters breaststroke with a time of 56.88 seconds.
